THE HEALTH OSCAR: AN UNEXPECTED EMOTION

I am writing this article to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone, my patients, the media, and the press in my city for the truly generous attention they have dedicated to me on the occasion of the Italian Health Award, where I was awarded the HEALTH OSCAR.
On Friday, March 23, at the Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona, I was awarded the “Health Oscar” (“Oscar della Salute”), a recognition given to those who promote a healthy and proper lifestyle in various fields, from medicine to research, from sports to nutrition, from publishing to art.

The prize was awarded by a scientific committee in recognition of my scientific research and communication activities dedicated to children’s health and my professional activity carried out over several years of clinical experience.

Here is HEALTH4CHILDREN: the initiative I dedicate to children’s health.

This initiative was created to raise public awareness of health and prevention issues, which are increasingly relevant today. This is achieved with the testimonials of the award winners, who shared their recipes for wellness and how they promote it in their daily lives. The event was organized by Dr. Massimo Spattini and Dr. Pasquale D’Autilia, well-known figures in Italian medicine.

I was very pleased to receive the award and the affection shown to me by the city, even though I am well aware that the credit goes to all the people who have helped me grow in knowledge and professional skills, to my family who constantly supports me, and to my adult and young patients.

I hope that the research on childhood that I am engaged in will be useful to the children of today, the adults of tomorrow. Heartfelt thanks also go to the families of ‘my’ children and to the Romagna Cancer Institute (IOR) for setting up the project aimed at understanding and tackling childhood obesity. In particular, I would like to thank Prof. Dino Amadori and all the paediatricians in Faenza who contributed so much and inspired me to launch the BATMAN project.

And thanks to all those who have contributed to my personal growth and enthusiasm for this profession.
