Stress Release Retreat: why I devised a program to address stress

I have developed the program after decades of clinical experience, thanks to an integrated, science-based approach that is tailor-made for each retreat guest. Initially, stress can be an ally, a boost to productivity, but if it continues over time, it generates profound negative effects. Chronic stress activates the “Fight or Flight” mode, an automatic response of the nervous system that prepares the body to react to danger.

This keeps cortisol levels elevated and pushes the brain into automatic mode, causing it to lose sight of the essentials in favor of urgent matters. At the same time, the amygdala, the part of the brain that regulates emotions and the perception of danger, becomes hyperactive, while the prefrontal cortex, responsible for rational thinking, weakens.
The result? You lose control over your reactions, fueling an endless cycle of stress that weakens the body and makes it more susceptible to infections. We thus feel that we no longer have control over ourselves, our choices, and our health.
