On La7: Le parole della salute. Natural Remedies for Everyday Wellness

IN BRIEF

In this article, I share my experience as a guest on the television programme “Le parole della salute” on La7, hosted by Annalisa Manduca. The post summarises the four appearances across 4 episodes, offering practical advice and natural solutions for everyday wellness.

Specifically, I discuss:

  • Abdominal bloating: the use of probiotics, vegetable enzymes and charcoal to rebalance gut flora and reduce bloating.
  • Stress: the support of adaptogenic plants (such as Rhodiola and Eleutherococcus) and Magnesium to improve resistance to physical and mental fatigue.
  • Weight loss: the use of draining plants (Birch, Pilosella) and metabolism boosters (Green tea) as aids to a healthy lifestyle.
  • Insomnia: the importance of Melatonin for the sleep-wake cycle and relaxing plants such as Valerian to improve sleep quality.

Each section includes the official episode video for further exploration of the topics discussed in the studio.

My experience on “Le parole della salute” on La7: natural remedies for everyday wellness

It is with great pleasure that I share with you a truly special recent experience. A few days ago, I had the honour of being a guest at the La7 studios, invited by the wonderful Annalisa Manduca on her programme “Le parole della salute”.

Those who follow me know how much I believe in the power of science communication and in providing simple, natural tools to improve our quality of life. Annalisa’s studio is the ideal setting for exactly that: translating complex health topics into practical, accessible advice for everyone.

Over the course of 4 episodes, we addressed very common issues — those everyday ailments that often compromise our daily wellbeing. We discussed how nature, when listened to and used wisely, can offer us fundamental support.

I have gathered here all my appearances across the 4 episodes to provide you with a quick guide to the natural remedies I suggested.

Here is what I discussed.

Episode 1. Abdominal bloating: rediscovering lightness

The first topic we addressed is one of the most widespread: the bothersome sensation of abdominal bloating and tension. Annalisa asked me how we can intervene when we feel “heavy” after meals.

The key is often to rebalance. I explained that, beyond classic carminative herbs such as fennel or anise, and the use of activated charcoal to absorb gas, it is essential to address the root cause. Bloating is often a symptom of intestinal dysbiosis. For this reason, the cyclical use of specific probiotics is essential to restore the balance of our gut flora. I also mentioned the help of vegetable digestive enzymes, such as those extracted from pineapple stem, to facilitate protein digestion.

Episode 2. Stress: supporting mind and body

We live hectic lives and stress has become a constant companion for many. But how can we help our bodies avoid being overwhelmed by it?

I told Annalisa about the importance of “adaptogenic” plants. Nature offers us extraordinary resources such as Rhodiola or Eleutherococcus, which do not sedate us but help our bodies adapt more effectively to stressful stimuli, improving our resistance to physical and mental fatigue. Alongside these, we must not forget the fundamental role of Magnesium for muscular and nervous relaxation, and of calming plants such as Lemon balm or Passionflower when anxiety takes over.

Episode 3. Weight loss: a helping hand from nature

When it comes to health, the topic of ideal weight is always deeply felt. I always make a point of emphasising that there are no magic pills: a healthy diet and physical activity are the foundation. However, nature can give us an extra boost.

In the studio, we discussed how to support the weight loss journey by working on two fronts: fluid drainage and metabolism stimulation. I suggested the use of draining plants such as Birch, Pilosella or Orthosiphon to combat water retention. For the metabolism, valuable support can come from Green tea or Bitter orange (Citrus aurantium), always used wisely and under expert guidance.

Episode 4. Insomnia: rest is health

Finally, we came full circle by discussing rest. There is no wellbeing without restorative sleep. When we struggle to fall asleep or wake up frequently during the night, our body does not recover.

I explained to Annalisa the importance of regulating the sleep-wake cycle, and for this, Melatonin is a key ally, especially for those with irregular schedules or who travel frequently. To improve sleep quality and promote deep relaxation before bedtime, I recommended synergistic herbal blends such as Valerian, California poppy (Eschscholzia) and Passionflower, which calm the nervous system without causing dependence.

If you struggle to fall asleep at night, listen to my advice in this final video.

I would like to thank Annalisa Manduca and the entire La7 team once again for their wonderful hospitality and the opportunity to bring these topics to a wider audience. I hope these insights can be helpful as you take care of yourselves, every day, naturally.

Until next time!
